Lombok and Indonesia Reaching New Milestones

Ask the surfing pioneers at the Bintang shop or just someone who has lived in Indonesia for 10 years and they will tell you, this country has transformed itself to a point of no return. “Paradise is far for being lost, mate! It’s just not invisible anymore to the rest of the planet.” Indeed important milestones have been reached.

While Indonesia is set to become the regional digital hub of South East Asia with the likes of Go-Jek (read “Economy” section below) and Tokopedia, the re-election of President Jokowi, the “Indonesian Obama”, is a strong sign of tolerance and trust from the Indonesian people for this leap into the future with more transparent reforms and infrastructure upgrade (read “The Digital Komodo Dragon” below in Economy Section). As for Lombok the selection of Mandalika Lombok to host the MotoGP 2021 instead of Brazil and AirAsia’ new established hub at Lombok International Airport send the timeless island into a new era. New concepts open every week in Kuta Lombok: after Pepito premium supermarket, Rinjani international school and a Muay Thai gym at Loka, you can enjoy the new spa at Rascals Hotel, a Spanish restaurant and an authentic French bakery. It will not be long before we can walk into a Chinese restaurant, a tapas bar or the award-winning Sarong, one of the most sought after Asian cuisine in Bali. And you have not seen the first beach club in Kuta Lombok. There are actually three in the pipeline. One of them is designed by Spanish architects BIOMBO, with interiors by the Mandala Collective and developed by the team behind the award-winning Mandala House, Villa Coco and Ulu Cliffhouse. KILN Beach Club & Residences is set to be one of the most spectacular and high quality offerings Lombok has seen.

Build your dream villa is far less trouble these days, being the choice of the contractors or the quality of government facilities. With a range of talented players available in the market such as Bambook architectural studio (read “Nagaindo Opportunity” section below), your chances of running a successful project have improved substantially… But stay well connected and do not venture alone. Twin Peaks development on Serangan beach by Nagaindo, the land specialist, is a strong proof that even the once remote and difficult areas have opened themselves to the rest.
